Jan Chrystian Bierpfaff

 

Jan Christian Bierpfaff (c. 1600 - c. 1680), the author of the baroque alphabet engraved by Falck, came from Holstein. He was the royal goldsmith. He worked in Kraków, Toruń and Gdańsk. His most famous work is the copper coffins of Władysław IV and Queen Cecilia Renata, richly decorated with gilded ornaments and figural scenes. More on the creators of the alphabet in: T.
