Konrad Baumgarten was a typical wandering printer. He printed in Gdańsk, Olomouc, Wrocław and Frankfurt on the Oder. In Gdańsk, he initially worked as a bookbinder, and in 1495 he founded a printing house. Four prints are known today from the Gdańsk period (until 1499): Agenda for the Vilnius diocese by Marcin of Radom, a textbook of Latin grammar Donatus minor, a letter of indulgence issued by Jan of Ścinawa and a German prayer book. Much richer in content and in terms of typographic resources are his works printed in Wrocław from 1503–1506. About the Baumgarten press in: Z. Nowak, The beginnings of printing art in Pomerania in the 15th century. Ossolineum 1976.
