Janek was inspired by both the drawings of Jan Wojeński taken from the book "Lettering technique", and Polish advertising sign making. The glyph set supports most European languages based on the Latin alphabet, as well as a wide set of punctuation and special characters. The original version of the typeface was created as part of a diploma at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk under the supervision of Dr. Ada Pawlikowska
