. . .

Rudolf typeface was inspired by the artwork of my grandfather. In his sculptures and medals, he used letterforms that were typical of monuments and commemorative plaques during communism in Poland. The letters, beautiful for they imperfection, were built on strictly defined mathematical rules described by Jan Wojeński in “Lettering Technique” manual from 1967, which I based on as well. As a fun fact, the book which I used is covered with my granddad’s notes from the times when he taught typography classes at the ceramics trade school in Bydgoszcz.
