Henryk Sakwerda

 

(born in 1942 in Mikołów, died on April 16, 2017 in Katowice) - Polish calligrapher and typographer, graphic designer, co-author of the typeface Silesiana. After graduating from the Technical School of Printing in 1965, he started working at Linotype Matrix studio in Katowice (later Grafmasz), where he designed printing magazines. Author of large-scale typefaces for works of art, including Akant, Typos, and Monitor. He devoted particular attention to the issues of readability and Polish diacritical marks. He taught calligraphy in the field of graphics at the Silesian University of Information Technology and Medicine in Chorzów.
