Jerzy Desselberger

 

(born June 16, 1931 in Łódź, died August 6, 2013) - Polish ornithologist, visual artist, designer of postage stamps. A graduate of the Faculty of Painting and Graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Author of the graphic symbol of the Polish Society for the Protection of Birds (OTOP) and other graphic symbols, as well as the author of 178 postage stamps with images of birds and other animals designed at the request of the Polish Post Office, showing numerous species of Polish birds. In 1970, he designed a Roman typeface called Alauda. He is also the creator of the art deco Akantis typeface.
