. . .

Bubol is a typeface designed in 2008 for our online game “Bubole”. You can see it in action on bubole.pl (it’s a Flash website, so you need Adobe Flash Player – but it’s worth it). The game had a lot hand-drawn titles. In specific situations (like typing names, nicknames, emails, and passwords) users interacted with typography that had to go well with the informal style resembling scribbles from the last page of a notebook. We wanted those letters to be colourful, so we created our first layered typeface. In subsequent years we’ve developed our own tools and workflows for creating multilayered fonts, making them not only better looking, but also applicable. Bubol has only uppercase characters, but it has three alternate glyphs for every letter. Unfortunately, back then we didn’t use OpenType features, so Bubol doesn’t have any automated alternate glyphs substitution. You can buy Bubol on MyFonts.
